Humour

Patient Dada Ji

A woman in a Chandigarh supermarket is following a grandfather ("Dada ji") and his badly behaved 3-year-old grandson.

It's obvious to her that he has his hands full with the child screaming for sweets in the sweet aisle, biscuits in the biscuit aisle, pop in the pop aisle, toys in the toy aisle, and so on.

Meanwhile, Dada ji is working his way around, saying in a controlled voice, "Easy, Karam Singh ji, we won't be long  . . .  Easy, boy."

Another outburst, and she hears the Dada ji calmly say, "It's okay, Karam Singh ji, just a couple more minutes and we'll be out of here. Hang in there, boy."

At the checkout, the little terror is throwing items out of the cart, and Dada ji says again in a controlled voice,

"Karam ji, Karam ji, relax, buddy, don't get upset. We'll be home in five minutes; stay cool, oye Karameya!"

Very impressed, the woman goes outside where Dada ji is loading his groceries and the boy into the car.

She says to the elderly gentleman, "It's none of my business, but you were amazing in there. I don't know how you did it. That whole time, you kept your composure, and no matter how loud and disruptive he got, you just calmly kept saying things would be okay. Karam Singh is very lucky to have you as his Dada ji."

"Thanks," says the grandfather, "but I am Karam Singh. This khottey da puttar is Ranjit Singh."

Cute! In this humor, there is also a big lesson to be learnt. Love it.

A typical scene at the supermarkets - but not cute at all for some mummies and supermarket staff. First lesson - if you can, don't go shopping with little people with fast, short legs and devilish smiles. Second lesson - bring along grans who may still have the stamina to move fast and are at no risk of heart failures.
