Marwah & Marwah
And Harcharan Singh Too ...
Will You Please Go Now!

Dr SEUSS (with minor edits by DARSHAN KAUR, 13, & SHABAD KAUR, 13)

We were both looking forward to attending the Sikh Centennial Gala in Toronto on Saturday … until our parents announced on the night before that we were not going! We have read the report by Amarjit Singh, and understand why.

We are upset that people whose job it is to be leaders of the community have behaved so badly. Seeing that the men and women responsible for the terrible decision at the Gala are unrepentant, we have retooled our favourite poem to convey to them our heartfelt feelings.

The time has come.
The time has come.
The time is now.
Just go.
Go.
GO!
I don't care how.

You can go by foot.
You can go by cow.
Lally S Marwah, will you please go now!

You can go on skates.
You can go on skis.
You can go in a hat.
But please go.
Please!

I don't care.
You can go by bike.
You can go on a Zike-Bike if you like.
If you like you can go in an old blue shoe.
Just go, go, GO!
Please do, do, DO!

Sabi S Marwah, I don't care how.
Sabi S Marwah, will you please GO NOW!

You can go on stilts.
You can go by fish.
You can go in a Crunk-Car if you wish.
If you wish you may go by lion's tail.
Or stamp yourself and go by mail.
Harcharan Singh!
Don't you know the time has come to go, Go, GO!

Get on your way!
Please, Mr Marwah, both!
You might like going in a Zumble-Zay.

You can go by balloon ...
... or broomstick.
OR Yous can go by camel in a bureau drawer.
You can go by Bumble-Boat ...
... or jet.
I don't care how you go.
Just GET!
Get yourself a Ga-Zoom.
You can go with a.................
BOOM!
Lally, Sabi, Harcharan!
Will you leave this room!

All of you Gala spoilers!
I don't care HOW.
Each one of you!
Will you please GO NOW!

I said GO and GO I ment....
The time has come.
SO... Sabi …?
When will you WENT?

The Scotiabank recently hired a new top man to run the bank and one of the first things he did -- it's in the news -- is let his junior, Mr Sabi Marwah, go. He's been forced into an early retirement. So, as heard above from the mouths of babes, it is time for Mr Marwah and his delinquent colleagues to retire from the Centennial Gala and The Sikh Foundation as well. They're giving us all a bad name. Well put, girls!

These two children have captured in their single, short, simple, direct re-telling of the famous ditty, all that we in the community have been saying these last few days over the despicable behaviour of the Gala organizers. "From the Mouths of the Babes ....", indeed!

Thanks to post #67 Anoop Kaur, in the previous article, for the google cache link to the board of directors of Sikh Foundation of Canada page as it appeared just a few days ago but no longer exists. http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:vuIFszKezqkJ:www.sikhfoundationcanada.com/about-us I went through each of the names there. Is Sat Gosal of the board the same person who is criminally charged in what appears from the story to be an assault on his wife and sister-in-law? www.mississauga.com/news-story/4350848-former-police-board-member-facing-assault-charges/ Without prejudging that situation, it is simply very sad all around if that is the same person. I wish the family justice and healing. That aside, does the person still remain a Sikh Foundation and Gala board member while charged with spousal assault? I also see this link to another set of organizers of the centennial gala here: http://centennialgala.com/about/ I am one of those that say how dare they hurl this insult at all Sikhs and at Sikhi. I commend sikhchic.com for bringing this to the forefront. Nonetheless, I prefer to think these people are not all mahants. I hope there may be some if not all of those at these 2 links that may reconcile with the larger Canadian and global Sikh community. That is only likely to happen with explanation that they did not support this or admit a mistake. I invite these brothers and sisters to post here or post a link here and not let their silence speak for them.

Our focus should be on bringing the message that any kind of 'nasha' or 'intoxicants' are banned for Sikhs and thenceforth any kind of promotion. I suggest sikhchic.com should start such a discussion.

Re #3, yes it is the same Sat Gosal who is on the board of the Sikh Foundation of Canada and is a prominent local lawyer. The other lawyer on the Sikh Foundation board is Harry Mann. His pet project in this role -- as if THIS is the end-all and be-all of Sikhi -- is to promote the use of alcohol at Sikh events. Please note the distinction: he doesn't go around pushing alcohol generally or within society at large; his personal contribution is to push its usage at SIKH events!
