Cambridge and New Sikh University: Partners?
NEWS REPORT
A high-level delegation from the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom, comprising Deputy Vice-Chancellor Dame Sandra Dawson and Michael O'Sullivan of Cambridge Overseas Trust, has shown interest in joining hands with Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University (SGGSWU) coming up in Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab.
The delegation, presently visiting Punjab on the invitation of the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC), showed interest during an interaction with S.G.P.C. president Avtar Singh on Thursday.
Academic planners of SGGSWU Divya Ray and Simranjit Kaur also participated in the discussion.
Dr Ahluwalia, who currently heads the project, said the first-of-its-kind institution in Punjab would have advanced degrees and courses in nanotechnology, biotechnology, computer science, engineering, instrumentation engineering, food technology and business management besides advanced research in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Studies.
The tie-up proposals such as twinning programmes, dual degree, guest faculty from abroad, students exchange and joint research centre at SGGSWU campus were considered actively during the interaction, Simranjit Kaur said.

A great initiative. Will do wonders for Sikhs, Punjab and India if only it can rise above, take life and thrive without the proverbial Indian virtues of corruption, nepotism and other similar but well entrenched traits.
