Love Is In The Air:
And The Hindu Grand Council Doesn’t Like It A Bit

INDIA TODAY

Valentines Day in India could turn out to be heavenly for some, hellish for others!

India’s Hindu Mahasabha (The Hindu Grand Council) has threatened to forcibly marry off the couples who are seen celebrating Valentines Day.

It said a 'shuddhikaran', (purification ritual) of couples from different faiths will also be performed before the marriage, in such cases. That is, no matter what the beliefs of the ‘offending’ lovers are, they’ll first be forced to suffer conversion to Hinduism before the compulsory marriage.

Hours after the Grand Council’s announcement, Twitter has been atwitter with comments -- many of them welcoming the threat as a ‘godsend.’

“So I'm gonna stand next to hot girls in public on Valentines Day,” writes AJ @babablahblah_, “and call the Hindu Mahasabha - they'll come and marry us off” - #LifeSet

manjula narayan @utterflea writes: “Hindu Mahasabha says that couples out on Valentines Day will be forcefully married off. Here's hoping they pay for the honeymoon suite too.”

Have a Happy Valentines Day! -- but first, watch who you're standing next to on February 14!
