Around 70% of the Indians who ended their life last year were married, a report says.

A report by the National Crime Record Bureau points out that last year, 69.2% of those who committed suicide were married, and 22.8% were unmarried.

Also, one among every five persons who committed suicide was a housewife.

A total of 61,453 married men and 31,754 married women ended life in 2010.

While, the number of unmarried men who killed themselves was 19,702, and that of unmarried women was 11,108.

The rest were widowed, or divorced.

The grand total of suicide cases in the country was 1,34,599.

The sex ratio for the suicides was 65-35, which means that for every 65 men who committed suicide, there were 35 women who took the extreme step.

No human beings should be helpless enough to extinguish their lives. The Governments have a duty to tackle their populations' problems and managing population growth should be the key to this because large numbers of humans with little education and money means chaos to society.

With these statics, I wonder about their faith. Even these are bald numbers, we can conclude that many of us loose faith in the midst of chaos. We need to remember Waheguru, the Doer. So, is suicide really the answer? Injustice or imbalance will never end, but it certainly doesn't mean one should turn to suicide as the solution. I pray to Waheguru that that any soul who comes across suicidal thoughts, survives it.

The increased likelihood of male suicides makes sense to me as a byproduct of a society that is still, in many ways, a patriarchy. Many husbands still feel as if they need to be the head of the household rather than one half of a partnership. Not only does this unfairly diminish the contributions of the wife but it also places an unnecessarily heavy burden on the husband.
