Between Work And Family

Canada’s Defence Minister Harjit Singh Sajjan (Liberal MP: Vancouver South, British Columbia) says it’s difficult to make time for family, especially when they don’t live in Ottawa, the nation‘s Capital and the seat of the federal government.
But he says he’s used to the balancing act, with his military background.
“Technology helps, but I’ve been away from my family before as well, in terms of being deployed overseas, but at the same time, you know what, I -- as the minister of national defence -- I can’t really complain too much because I have troops spread out all over the world that are away from their families and so my heart also goes out to them.”

Canada’s Industry and Innovation Minister Navdeep Singh Bains (Liberal MP: Mississauga-Malton, Ontario) says that he remembers well from his previous experience in government that it’s important to spend time with his two daughters, now 8 and 5.
“When I’m in the constituency, I carve out a day for them, to make sure that there’s uninterrupted, the phones are put aside. I’m spending time with them. We might go for breakfast together, might watch a movie together, but I don’t bring work or I make sure that work doesn’t interfere with that day … I must say I’m very blessed to have a very supportive wife.”

What an extraordinary and humble gentleman, this Harjit Singh. What he has done for the Sikh community and identity is unprecedented and his own personal sacrifices are incredible ... to serve Canada and keep Canada safe! His loved ones must be so proud, as is the worldwide community!
