Ah! To Love So Completely
A Poem by INNI KAUR
Ah! It is the month of February
Love is in the air
A white blanket drapes the land
While the trees stand bare
Such disparity
Steam rises from my hot chocolate
Mind drifts …
I remember my youthful crushes
I remember my first love
Heart tightens
I sigh!
Why do first loves, retain that power?
I remember my wedding day
The day my husband said I was the most beautiful woman
I knew he was lying
But I loved him for it
I pause
I gaze out of my window
The sun is glistening
The snow is yielding
I smile
Green will soon adorn the land
Trees will don their robes
However, my silver tresses will remain
I feel no anguish.
For these silver tresses have softened me
I now tread lightly
Not wanting to hurt a soul
I now breathe deeply
Savoring every breath
Love has now become sweeter.
It ebbs and flows in my consciousness
It is the reason for my being
Sheer bliss …
To love so completely!
