New Year Honours:
103-Year-Old Sikh-Brit Marathoner Heads Field Of Winners

Sardar Fauja Singh, 103, and widely believed to be the oldest marathon runner in the world, is awarded Medal of the Order of the British Empire (MBE). From Essex, and a keen charity supporter and champion for Age UK, he took up running aged 89.

COMMANDER OF THE ORDER OF THE BRITISH EMPIRE (CBE)

Meera Syal who is already a holder of an MBE for her services to Drama and Literature, has now received a CBE for her contribution to the arts.

OFFICERS OF THE ORDER OF THE BRITISH EMPIRE (OBE)

Mohinder Singh Ahluwalia. For services to Interfaith and Community Cohesion.

Surat Singh Sangha, Managing Director, Asiana Ltd. For services to Entrepreneurship.

MEMBERS OF THE ORDER OF THE BRITISH EMPIRE (MBE)

Surinder Kaur Ghura. For services to Interfaith Understanding and to the community in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

Gurmel Singh Kandola. Chief Executive, National Sikh Museum, Derby. For services to the community.

Surinder Pal Singh Khurana  For services to the community in North East Lincolnshire.
