Campaigning Against Bullying in the Workplace:
A Crusade by a Sikh-Briton

Bally Kaur, 29, of Burton Manor (Stafforshire, United Kingdom), is fighting back for others through her Facebook group, Bally’s Cause Against Bullying in the Workplace.

And more than 500 supporters have rallied round in just six weeks.

As well as her Facebook supporters, Bally has been backed by businesses including Stafford’s Asda, which offered her space in the foyer to promote the campaign, Innocent Smoothies, the National Bullying Helpline and Print Stafford, which has offered poster printing services.

Through her group Bally aims to stamp out workplace bullying and raise awareness of the issue, getting it discussed out in the open rather than being hidden away as a stigma. The Facebook page also includes inspirational messages and contact details for organisations which can help people affected by bullying.

The mother of two, who originally hails from Nottingham, said: “People know about school bullying but what about the workplace? There is so much you can lose, like your home, if you leave - shouldn’t the issue be addressed?

“That was the reason I set up the group and I have been inundated with support. I didn’t expect this to happen as I am a one-person band.”

Bally has produced posters and hoodies to help highlight the issue and is hoping to take the message even further to help more people, through celebrity backing. She is also considering registering the group as a charity.

The campaign has aims for workplaces too to help their employees, including zero tolerance policies towards bullying, whistleblowing policies, anti-bullying posters and improvements by unions to help victims of workplace bullying.

The group can be accessed at www.facebook.com/#!/BallysAgainstBullyingInTheWorkPlaceCause/info, or you can follow the group on Twitter @Ballyscause.
