Navneet Singh: Top Youth Leader

by TANIA KAUR

Atlanta, Georgia resident Navneet Singh has been named one of "The Top 40 Leaders Under 40  -  the Best and the Brightest", by Georgia Trend.

Navneet was described as an "outstanding leader" and one of those who are poised to take the state's commercial, cultural, academic and government institutions into the future.

Earlier, the prominent Atlanta Business Chronicle had included him in their list of "40-Under-40 Top Up & Comer Leaders", as well.

One of the youngest persons to be included in both selections, Navneet is no stranger to winning honors and awards.

In the rarefied air of Fortune 100 global business, where conformity is the norm, Navneet has set himself apart as a top corporate executive for one of the world's largest management and IT consulting firms and stands tall as an authority on business leadership and corporate citizenship, and as a community service leader in America.

As Director of Community Empowerment and Humanitarian Relief with United Sikhs, a global NGO, he has spent many months of dedicated time on-site, providing humanitarian relief and rehabilitation to the victims of Asian tsunamis in South India and Campbell Bay, aiding those affected by the Hurricane Katrina tragedy in New Orleans, and helping in the aftermath of the Kashmir earthquake.

During these life-saving missions, he helped rescue people, set up relief shelters, led medical volunteers, provided clothing, and served meals.  With full support from the United Sikhs organization, he also aided in starting a computer institute, setting up medical clinics and supporting orphanages and the adoption of children in these tragedy-struck areas.

He was recognized by his company with their top honor of "Corporate Citizenship -  Volunteer Service Award" for this selfless work. In 2006, he was honored by Senator Hillary Clinton as one of "Fifty Outstanding Asian Americans in Business", was recognized as a "Community Change Visionary Award" winner by the Atlanta community and Raksha NGO and received the "Global Humanitarian Award" from the Minorities in Business Foundation.

To name a few in 2007 alone, he was chosen as "Best Finance Executive" at the American Business Awards in New York, was recognized by Canada's Centennial Foundation with the "Seva Leadership Award" in Toronto, and was recently honored by Michigan State University with the "Distinguished Young Alumni Achievement Award" -  the highest university distinction to be bestowed upon the youngest recipient ever in the school's prestigious 160-year history.

A graduate of the Yadavindra Public School and the son of Dr. Sukhvarsha Kaur, Principal of the Home Science College in Chandigarh, Punjab, Navneet embodies the best ingredients that constitute good community leadership.  At such a young age, he has become an inspiration for the youthful and ambitious to succeed professionally and give back to the community.

When asked about his future goals, Navneet shared his passion for giving back with a simple message: "I am a very blessed man and have more than what I need in my life, but there are others out there who have less than what they really need, and all I want to do is try to balance some things out before I leave this world".

He is one of the most inspiring individuals I've met; he is an asset to the Sikh community as well as other organizations in America. Good job, Navneet!
