Before I Die ...
What Is Important To You?
Candy Chang is an artist who explores making cities more comfortable and contemplative places.
This project is her brain-child.
It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day and forget what really matters to you. With help from old and new friends, Candy turned the side of an abandoned house in her neighborhood in New Orleans into a giant chalkboard where residents can write on the wall and remember what is important to them.
Before I Die is a public art project that invites people to reflect on their lives and share their personal aspirations in public space. Painted with chalkboard paint and stenciled with the sentence “Before I die, I want to _______”, the wall aims to create public spaces that better reflect what is important to us as a community and as individuals.
It’s a question that changed Candy after she lost someone she loved very much, and she thinks it’s important to remember how brief and tender life really is.
We invite our readers on sikhchic.com to join us on our cyber-space chalk-board on a journey of self-discovery.
We ask you to complete the sentence, "BEFORE I DIE, I WANT TO ......." by posting your thoughts as a comment below.
Please limit your entry to 20 words. Distilling your thoughts to a bare minimum will challenge you to seek the very quintessence of your dreams, hopes and desires.
Multiple entries from readers are welcome.

I would like to see a good government in place, like the one of Maharaja Ranjit Singh ... where people rule with compassion, practice mercy, and work to promote the happiness of the citizens. Justice for all, no torture, no discrimination between religions, races, castes, genders ...
