16-Yr-Old Sikh-American Needs Your Vote - Today!

Pranav Singh is a sixteen year old Junior attending high school in Irvine, California, U.S.A..

Currently he is a finalist for the Youtube Spacelab Competition, which is sponsored by Lenevo and various space agencies including NASA.

His biology experiment explores the effects of micro-gravity on genetic recombination, which is the reshuffling of genes during the separation of chromosomes. The experiment is designed around the common fruit fly.

In his experiment, he proposes to observe the effects micro-gravity has upon the look of and individual characteristics of the fly.

Right now the competition is in the voting phase and votes can be placed by CLICKING HERE.

Please vote, when you see PRANAV'S Picture and then CLICK on the GREEN BUTTON.

Voting can be done once per day until Tuesday, the 24th of January.

Please vote for him because he has a passion for science that goes back to the eighth grade where he conducted a science fair experiment testing the effect of one's driving style on fuel economy.

He says his passion for science “came when I was young and saw things around me that I could not explain”,  and that this perspective has lead him to have an inquisitive personality. This gave him the inspiration to come up with this experiment after he came across a scientific paper explaining the effect micro-gravity has on embryonic development.

He also has an interest in politics, evidenced by his participation in the Model United Nations which he began this year.

Through his attendance at a number of conferences, he has won multiplicity of awards and currently participates in advanced level conferences.

Since a very young age, Pranav has been involved with chorus singing programs and currently is in a school choir. During his freshman year at high school, Pranav played on his school's football and track team.

He has also attended two IIGS camps where he learned the importance of Sikhism and its place in society today.

Pranav Singh's dream is to one day open a research facility where he hopes to create alternative fuels through genetic engineering of algae. He hopes that this research will lead to sustainable fuel for the future, allowing the world to stop relying on fossil fuels such as diesel and gasoline. He also hopes that such research will reduce the impact of global warming on the Earth by canceling out the carbon dioxide emissions that result from the burning of fossil fuels.

He thus hopes to be able to give back to the community that has supported and allowed him to become the person he is today.
