Saadh Sangat

A Poem by INNI KAUR

An assembly of people

Satiated with materialism

Is not the sangat

That I seek.

I long for that sangat

Where my individuality disappears

And I beam

The image of the sangat

I long for that sangat

Where the I disappears

And Grace

Permeates my being.

All in the One

The One in all.

Is the Sadh Sangat

I ache for.

Inni ji, thanks for sharing your deep longings for such a Saadh Sangat. We go to the gurdwara to seek His Grace with abject humility and pray: 'Tudh baavai taa bakhas laihi khotay sang kharay' [GGS:261.4] - 'But, if it pleases You, Lord, then You forgive the counterfeit along with the genunine.' Or, if you like: 'Ham nahee changay buraa ahee ko-ayâ' [GGS:728.13] - 'I am not good; no one is bad'. Guru Nanak has provided us with the perfect methodology starting with: 'Jat paahaara Dheeraj sun-aar' - As a radio amateur with some 50 years standing, we have a saying: 'If it does not work, it is not a bad idea to read the manual.'
