Sher Singh ji, how beautifully have you drawn a parallel from a historical narrative! To be and to remain a protector of the weak and needy, one also needs to protect/defend himself/herself. Therefore, may I add ... you can walk in with a gun into my place of worship, rest assured, I'll be there - always with my turban and, as always ... ready to defend myself and my fellow human beings!

Remembered about an article in some newspaper, perhaps DNA India, about four Sikhs traveling in a train at the time of November 1984 Sikh genocide in India. Requested by co-travelers to remove their turbans, cut their hair to save their lives. Three agreed but one refused and at the next station he wWas burned alive. What a spirit they have, how brave/blessed they are who live and die for their convictions! Because of such gursikhs, Sikh religion, though youngest of all, today stands as the fifth in world religions, though against heavy odds. Just today read another true story in Sikh Phulwari, a monthly magazine of the Sikh Missionary College, about a very poor migrant Hindu family employed by a Sikh farmer in Punjab. The Sikh raised his own son as also the son of migrant servant, both equally. Today both of them are Gursikhs and engineers as also all relatives of the migrant servant stopped using tobacco, etc. and fully respect Sikhi and Sikhs. Proud to be a Sikh.
